JORGOS COENEN

I'm an interaction designer and researcher interested all things visual and interactive. Constantly looking for new sources of inspiration in my favorite art forms: comics, film and independent music.

I focus on starting conversations with physical information visualisations and museum applications.

More about me.

Hieronymus Cock

Hieronymus Cock

When M Museum, Leuven BE, was planning an exhibition in coöperation with Illumniare about the publishing work of Hieronymus Cock they contacted me to develop a digital guide. The web app contains the entire regular guide but also includes video's, audio commentary and, most importantly, the ability to zoom in on the images. Hieronymus Cock published engravings with a great amount of detail that's difficult to spot with the naked eye. Zooming in on them offers a better look at these popular masterpieces.

Michiel Coxcie

Another collaboration with the M Museum in Leuven. This time for the exhibition on Michiel Coxcie, often referred to as the 'Flemish Raphael'. For this exhibition I made no less than four applications, all in four languages (click to go to app):

Vreemde Vogels

This project grew out of a school assignment.
I created a game for young children to be played on an iPad during a visit to the M Museum in Leuven, BE. The people at Museum M were impressed with what I'd come up with and wanted to see the application finished.

The final result is a fun game that helps motivate young visitors to look carefully at the art during their exploration of the museum. I was responsible for the entire app, except for the character designs.

Magnus is ziek

Magnus is ziek, or Magnus is ill, is a small project I did. Again for the M Museum in Leuven. This application is a revision the drawing-app aimed at children from the Michiel Coxcie exhibition. For this kids-tour, based on a popular storybook, additional illustration were added to the app, along with some other refinements and updates.
