JORGOS COENEN

I'm an interaction designer and researcher interested all things visual and interactive. Constantly looking for new sources of inspiration in my favorite art forms: comics, film and independent music.

I focus on starting conversations with physical information visualisations and museum applications.

Arras

Arras

I wrote my master thesis on the introduction of lifelogging data into homes. Lifelogging is the collection of personal data, usually through apps or wearable gadgets. The goal of this logging is to gather deeper insights into our activities and performances. With Arras I aim to encourage and support reflection on this data by increasing the number of conversation about it and the frequency of interaction with it. This is achieved through the design of the visualization and the semi-public exhibition of otherwise locked away data.

Tangible Infovis

Part of the third bachelor year of Communication and Media Design is an internship. And not just a short one but a three month long emersion into the field. Usually students choose to intern at a marketing or communications firm. I chose a research group called Research[x]Design, part of the ASRO-group at the KULeuven. Their work centers around information visualization. I worked on an experiment using a tangible interface to interact with data.
